FOOTAGEBANK HD SELECTS TERANEX VIDEO PROCESSORS FOR HD STANDARDS CONVERSIONS
Orlando, FL. (April 24, 2006) - Teranex, a division of Silicon Optix and leader in providing high performance video processing solutions to the broadcast and postproduction markets, today announced that FootageBank HD, the only footage company specializing in High Definition (HD) content has selected Teranex video processors for their HD standards conversion.
“When we started receiving footage from our African suppliers, the tapes arrived in HDCam 50i and HD DVCPro 50i. The problem then became, how do we convert these 50i formats to an American standard HD 60i and HD 24p without getting image pixilation and judder?” said Paula Lumbard, founder and president of FootageBank HD.
“We solved the problem using Teranex’s 3RU Video Computer. Teranex’s 3RU provided us with the highest quality images and the conversion to American standard worked seamlessly with both the HDCam and DVCPro formats. We are now able to serve the rapidly expanding demand for HD production and showcase our extensive footage of the African continent and wildlife,” continued Lumbard.
Teranex’s 3RU Video Computer platform performs over 15 trillion operations per second and allows for rapid tuning of software algorithms to meet the ever-changing needs of video industry professionals. Teranex was first to offer HD Standards Conversion as a software upgrade for its platform.
Recently, Silicon Optix and Teranex announced the Realta HQV® video processing engine, a powerful and fully programmable single-chip video processor that brings Teranex’s Video Computer platform to the home entertainment and professional large-area digital display markets. Realta HQV®, available in versions for both the consumer and professional markets, sets a new price/performance standard for the industry.
