FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
LOS ANGELES, CA – December 8, 2004 – From highly publicized new television shows to the closely watched election night coverage, FootageBank, the only footage company specializing in High Definition (HD) native content, has provided customized services and content for this busy TV viewing season. The company’s clients have included more than 40 TV shows this fall, several movies-of-the-week and news programs. FootageBank is also delivering shots for next year’s pilot season that is already in production. “While the critics are still deciding the ratings winners and losers, we already know it has been a winning season for the company,” said Paula Lumbard, founder and president of FootageBank. “We serviced more TV clients than ever before and, in addition to providing a great library of HD-native content to choose from, we also found unique ways to work within each client’s time and budget needs. As a small firm we can make fast and customized decisions.” Nearing its three-year anniversary, Lumbard has successfully grown her newest business by accurately forecasting the growth and importance of HD, developing new and unique ways to work with customers and by providing a technically advanced web site making it easy for clients to view and license footage. In addition to TV, customers include corporate, media entertainment and advertisers ranging from independent producers to Madison Avenue advertising agencies and Hollywood studios. Recent TV projects for FootageBank have included the following: FootageBank provided the new comedy Center of the Universe with the establishing shot of the house where the main character, played by John Goodman, lives. FootageBank provided day and night footage of the house and the studio special effects department then digitally enhanced the footage adding such things as orange leaves on trees and falling snow to create images showing the same house in all seasons. These digitally enhanced shots were then output to HD Cam. To help the client keep costs down, FootageBank offered a unique solution where the footage was provided to the show at a discounted price, but all of the clips remain the property of FootageBank. This makes the footage more affordable to the show while building the FootageBank collection at the same time. ABC News contracted with FootageBank to use unlimited clips from their renowned collection, “Over America”, across all ABC platforms during their special coverage of election night 2004. Selected for its spectacular HD aerial images showcasing American landscapes, footage from New York City to the St. Louis Arch to the Alaskan wilderness was used during news breaks, as interstitials and as backdrops on the set of the news desk. The new Star Trek franchise show Enterprise used multiple clips from FootageBank’s Archival Icons Collection to create a short film used onset to depict key events in the history of man. The footage was contracted through the Paramount film library, which has also licensed footage this season for several shows including LAX, Medical Investigation and Jag. About FootageBank |
