About Us

FootageBank was founded in 2002 by industry icon Paula Lumbard as the first stock footage company focusing on High Definition (HD) native content. Capitalizing on more that 20 years in the stock footage industry, Lumbard has made FootageBank into a major supplier of HD images nationally and internationally.  The company continues to be the only footage house specializing in HD native content and is dedicated to shooting and aggregating collections of HD images to service the rapidly growing demand for HD content in television, feature films, advertising, websites, and corporate videos.

With a technically advanced web site, clients can preview HD clips, as well as footage in other formats such as 35 mm film, and news and archival footage in standard definition, at www.footagebank.com.

Paula Lumbard, Founder & President

FootageBank HD was founded by industry icon Paula Lumbard who anticipated the coming demand for HD motion content and created the first stock footage company specializing in HD-native content. FootageBank HD reflects her experience and knowledge that licensing motion images needs to be easy, fun, and reasonably priced. FootageBank HD provides the one-on-one customer service that Lumbard is known for throughout the industry.

Lumbard’s career spans more than 20 years in content licensing and prior to that Lumbard spent several years producing special effects for features films and television. In 1985 she founded her first company Film Bank which established her as a leader and independent thinker in the independent archive business.

Paula is a graduate of the University of Washington, has two masters degrees (Fine Arts, Psychology) and was a member of the Emmy Award winning team that created the special effects for the classic TV film “The Day After.” Lumbard serves on the Board of Directors of Venice Neighborhood Arts, a non profit organization whose mission is providing low income youths in the Los Angeles area with free classes in media arts.

Carol Martin, Vice President

Carol Martin joined FootageBank HD at its inception in 2002 after nearly a decade in stock footage sales and management. In the summer of 2007, Carol was appointed Vice President of the company in an effort to proactively manage its continued growth.

While managing a sales team that has seen increases of 100% per year since 2003, day-to-day operations including the use of a proprietary database architecture that she spearheaded, and the company’s online presence via its user friendly website, Carol has helped mold FootageBank HD's unique and highly regarded efficient, accurate, fair and friendly style.

In her role as Vice President, Carol will manage the company’s services to keep up with the changing market and constantly evolving technology. In an effort to help people understand the language of HD, Carol will continue to develop new ways to demystify the subject such as with the HD Format Guide (downloadable on our home page) and traveling the world for group tutorials.

Carol is a graduate of the University of California Santa Barbara and has bachelor degrees in English and Film Studies.
